Homemade Garlic & Herb Bread Recipe
I just love myself some good garlic bread, especially if it’s homemade! They’re actually very easy to make and way better than the premade ones you can buy in the store. So definitely try and make your own next time you have friends over for drinks, or when you want a nice side dish to go with your soup!
I personally use ciabatta because it’s nice and broad and pretty even in height, but you should be able to use any type of bake-off bread that you’d like.
Prep Time: 35 mins | Cook Time: 8 mins | Total: 43 mins
Cooking & Kitchen Supplies: silicone baking mat or parchment paper
Ingredients
- 1 ciabatta, bake-off, about 250g
- 100g butter, unsalted
- 10g diced chives
- 8g diced parsley
- 4 cloves garlic
- ground salt & pepper to taste
This recipe actually doubles as a homemade garlic & herb butter recipe as well. If you leave out the bread, you can use this butter in many different ways. I suggest trying it with for example steak, baked potatoes, toast and so on. However, if you don’t like raw garlic, I recommend cooking the garlic with some of the butter beforehand.
How to make your own Garlic & Herb Bread
- Transfer the amount of needed butter to a bowl 30 minutes ahead of time and leave it out of the fridge to let it soften a bit.
- Preheat your oven according to the packaging of your ciabatta.
- Prep your herbs and garlic while the butter is softening. Finely dice your chives & parsley. Crush your garlic with the side of your blade and peel it. Then finely dice your garlic.
- Cut your ciabatta in half crosswise & lengthwise, creating 4 even pieces.
- When your butter has softened, mix in the herbs and garlic & season with ground salt & pepper. Make sure the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Butter the ciabatta pieces evenly with the herb & garlic butter.
- Transfer the ciabatta pieces to a silicone baking mat or parchment paper and bake them according to the original instructions on the packaging of the ciabatta.
- Take the ciabatta pieces out of the oven when they’re done baking and finish them off with a little bit of coarse sea salt. You can either serve them as they are a side dish, or cut them into smaller slices to serve as snacks. Enjoy!
